South Africa Now: Truth & Reconciliation Commission

Truth & Reconciliation Commission - After Apartheid ended, the Truth & Reconciliation Commission was established as a way to bring black and white South Africans together and deal with the injustices that had happened during Apartheid.

The commission was charged with investigating and recording human rights abuses through witnesses from both sides. It graves victims a chance to restore their dignity, and focused on reconciliation, allowing people who had committed politically motivated crimes the chance to express remorse and be integrated into the new society.
