Ford’s Theatre and Mosaic Theater Company present a staged reading and discussion of Edward Albee’s The Death of Bessie Smith, directed by Jennifer L. Nelson. Playwright Edward Albee explores the intersection of Jim Crow laws and the death of music legend Bessie Smith, seen through the lens of a segregated Memphis hospital in September 1937. Part of our Capitol Hill Reading Series, supported in part by the Capitol Hill Community Center Foundation.
