Chicago native Nambi E. Kelley’s retelling of Richard Wright's landmark novel re-imagines the story of 20-year-old Bigger Thomas for a whole new generation. Suffocating in rat-infested poverty on the South Side of Chicago, Bigger lands a job in the home of a wealthy white family.  Struggling to find a place for himself in a world whose prejudice has shut him out, he unwittingly unleashes a series of events that violently seal his fate.
